Connecting to oracle with autocad map 3d 2007

how to get an oracle connection up and running in Autocad Map 3d 2007 ain't as
simple as it should be. It's a little confusing, especially when it comes to the creating a
schema for the FDO objects...

here's a useful explanation of how to get it going from the support forums - connection dialog box for new data store not open

generally speaking, i reckon, if such product question's arise in the support forums.. update the built-in help for the product....

it's interesting approaching a product you haven't worked with before, as a an experienced developer and seeing the techonology from a fresh user perspective...

kinda like when i used to work as a production manager / lighting designer and you hit the first full runs and hopefully ( it's difficult when your doing both tho ) at that point your able to disconnect yourself from the months or years of pre-production experience and place yourself into the mode where your a member of the great unwashed seeing the show for the first time.

what i try to do is to correlate my background knowledge of which direction you need to be taken as an audience member with what you actually experience...

it's a hard thing to do, but when you can do it, it can have amazing results :-)

The Turkish Shuffle

When i was in istanbul, i saw a performance of the whirling dirvishes at the train station. I was pretty jet lagged after flying the day before from oz and it was one of the those kinda surreal experiences as i slipped into the trance of the music and was swept into a dream state, flowing forward and backwards from enjoying the performance to letting my thoughts roam.

There's a dance in melbourne called the melbourne shuffle
which involves taking talcum powder along and then shuffling around on the slippery floor. On walking in we saw piles of talcum powder on the stage which the dancers used to spin around on whilst pushing with their other foot.

Mirror or Mask

Saw a great film last night called Mirror or Mask very visually stunning, combining some stunning relatity going into a very trippy 'dark lands' *** 1/2 stars

got the day off for anzac day down here... seasons are turning and people's rythmn's change as the evening's get colder and the sun sets earlier... no where near as pronounced in europe, with the cold winters.. but it's a little dip before people return to the intensity of an indoor landscape ...
